Tallinn airport – small but hard-working

Tallinn airport becomes a cosy home! One place that is certainly not to be missed at the airport is the library. It is obviously not the first of its kind in the world, but many visitors arriving in Estonia have been pleasantly surprised by it. The small library works on the principle of honesty and exchange, or take one and put one back. Books brought by travellers are all welcome. The library is in the departure area of the airport near to Gate 1.

Travelling with younger members of the family may be great fun and very straightforward, or it may be more than just a little challenging. It is advised that you arrive at the airport at least two hours before take-off if you are flying, and filling this time can be a work of some skill if you have a little troublemaker who just won’t sit still. But now your little darlings can amuse themselves in the Lotte play area, which features the three-storey house where Lotte’s family live, with climbing frames, a slide and screens showing cartoons. The play area is in the departure area of the airport near to Gate 5.

Several improvements have also been made in the non-Schengen area. One of these is a children’s play corner that is again aimed at the younger members of the family. Another is a life-size chess and draughts board that will be ready in early 2014 and fully equipped with pieces the size of a small child. It is never a bad thing to exercise the mind before departing on a long flight.
