The Seaplane hangars were awarded a grand prix by the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage/Europa Nostra Awards in 2013.
The Seaplane hangars are architecturally unique as the first reinforced concrete shell structures of such size anywhere in the world. The hangers were initially built as part of Peter the Great’s historic naval fortress in 1916-1917.

Come and visit one of the most exciting museums in the region. During the tour, stories come to life of the submarine Lembit, which was the world’s oldest submarine still afloat until 2011; the Suur Tõll steam icebreaker, which is the biggest icebreaker in the world to have survived through two world wars; the full-size replica of the Short Type 184 seaplane, and much more.
